I seem to have no time for blogging these days.
I’ve been moving into my new workspace, ramping up my business, organizing my client work differently, preparing my tax information–all of last weekend!–and getting the Magic Wand Collective to its next stage of growth. All of this is demanding a lot from me right now.
I spend all day, every day, saying to myself: Focus, Rachel. FOCUS!
So thank you for bearing with me for a few weeks.

New Stella & Dot pieces thanks to my February Trunk Show with stylist Liz Couchman.
These are the kinds of the details that I love: a new Talbots t-shirt in Magic Wand Collective red features just a little puff and gathered 3/4 sleeve.
A shiny collection of bangles on my wrist: Stella & Dot, plus three heart & pearl bracelets as a Valentine's Gift from my baby, Red Envelope.
These look cuter in person, but no matter...trust me...cozy booties found for me by the fashion savvy 14-year old Jesse in a little surf shop near Venice Beach last spring break, knee high argyle socks from Talbots, scalloped-layered jersey flared skirt from Athleta.
A comfortable yet put together outfit suitable for Magic Wand Collective Co-Working this morning. Perhaps I should have smiled? ( :

As many of you know, I’ve just moved into my first ever office outside the home since I started my marketing consulting business eight years ago.
It’s blissful.
The timing was just right, the stars aligned, and I felt clearly that I was supposed to do this. Bonus: It’s only 8 blocks from our house.
I moved in less than two weeks after signing the lease. Everything–from finding the $148 cabinet in exactly the right shade of red, to choosing a paint color called “Refreshing Pool,” to locating a footstool/ storage ottoman in dark sea foam green–was both intentional and intended to be.

There are a few finishing touches I haven’t yet gotten to–my own blog designs as canvases for the walls are ordered and on the way, a large art-deco style mirror needs to be put up (it’s going to reflect the light from the very high window toward my desk: Kristine’s brilliant idea!) and a framed magnetic chalkboard wall (where I will have my goals and deadlines and tasks laid out visually) needs to be drawn and painted. A clock for the wall, decoupaged clipboards for function and beauty, and just the right tea cozy will be added. All of this will happen very soon and I’m excited for my vision to be completely realized.
From the photos you can’t you see the 10 foot high ceilings and the vintage-inspired tiled ceiling. But I hope the pics communicate to you just some of what I feel when I walk into my little “room of her own” every morning.
Cheerful. Focused. Energized. Clear.
And so grateful.

This red cabinet provides incredible storage for my supplies, router and printer. I found it at the Cottage House, just down the street. Deirdre got me some fab vintage-y hardware for it at Anthropologie (visible in a more recent photo below)

This door hanger I decoupaged says "gone to yoga" on one side (the Spark Clinic studio where I take my classes is just down the hall from my office.) The other side says "in a meeting." Very easy and fun to make! You can also see the new cabinet hardware in this photo.
I decoupaged 8 of these $1 clipboards (Dollar Tree) this weekend using various papers and magazine clippings. So much fun! The finished pieces are going to be hung on the wall for function (to organize receipts and notes and papers as needed) and for visual appeal. I also fell in love with this task chair, another item that looks far more expensive than it actually is. Ave Dorado chair, found on Amazon.com
A crisp white desk (HomeDecorators.com) against an aqua wall was my stepping off inspiration point for the room. This rug was one of the final pieces to be added (Overstock.com)
I love the little touches that make this relatively inexpensive desk ($319 at HomeDecorators.com) look more like an antique
Expedit IKEA high gloss white shelving provides places for all of my favorite things: photos, dishes, magazines, books, catalogs, cards from loved ones, candles and tokens...

I plan to have an open house sometime soon. If you’re in the Twin Cities area, you’ll be invited and I certainly hope you will bring your positive and powerful self to the space!
Now I’m ready to move forward with my big priorities for 2012: Growing to meet the needs of my expanding client base, getting organized around the nuts and bolts of managing my business (including hiring some help!) and rebranding to better articulate what I have learned about my particular strengths and passions during the last few years. I’ll also be creating a new web site that incorporates this blog.
