A few photos of what I wore to co-working yesterday…
I’m off to present at Magic Wand Collective co-working today and I am wearing some of my favorite pieces of clothing, purchased recently for my new web site photo shoot. (New site coming soon; in the meantime: Rachel Greenhouse Consulting Services on Facebook.)
I spent hours and hours pinning and online shopping to find just the right clothes for the shoot. I wholeheartedly enjoy an art direction project and a theme…and I love styling myself in a way that amplifies my brand. So, this was not a burden for me. Nevertheless, it is always more time-consuming than it looks.
A few of the items I really really wanted to wear (in particular: a navy peplum jacket and ink lace trimmed shift dress from Dorothy Perkins) simply did not arrive in time. They got caught in customs coming from the UK. I reminded myself to “let it go” and make the best of this opportunity, even if I didn’t have my ideal combination of outfits.
Here are a few of the photos from the shoot, with some shout outs to the clothing manufacturers and other talented individuals who made me look so presentable.
All photos are courtesy the very talented Noemi Hedrick of Noemi Photography.
What are you wearing today? Why don’t you meander over to the Pleated Poppy to take a look at what other bloggers are posting about fashion? Thanks for stopping by!
Another day of Magic Wand Collective co-working means another opportunity to throw a cute ensemble together.
So here’s what I came up with today:
Coconuts Solei Wedge Sandals, bought at DSW. Follow this link and you’ll see the version of the sandal with brown leather, and orange and aqua stripes on the heel. I loved those too, but just couldn’t add another pair to my cart.
Shirt dress (Anthropologie)
Aqua cardigan with white pearl buttons (Marshall’s)
Why don’t you head over to the Pleated Poppy to see what everyone else is wearing this Wednesday?
Of course, striped tights…the orange dress is from Anthropologie…and I’m sporting a brown wool cardigan with flyaway collar, also from Lands End. And braided pigtails (is that an acceptable hairstyle for a 43 year old woman? Not that I’m going to pay any attention to what is acceptable…)
And this, my friends, is what I’m wearing Wednesday (today). Check out what everyone else is wearing over at the Pleated Poppy.
The very first vision board I ever created surprised me with an aspect of myself I had never recognized:
Apparently I have a penchant for fashion.
While putting my board together I had unconsciously cut out images of Gwyneth Paltrow in two very different–but equally smokin’–outfits. I had glued one on top of the other so that I could flip the image back and forth. It was an incredible realization for me that I was attracted to the transformation, the playfulness, the reinvention of these contrasting outfits.
I think in my case that my love of a rockin’ outfit is also tied to my passion for beauty. Pulling together colors and shapes and textures to create one cohesive, impactful image is a real kick.
Plus, as my dad once told me, it’s pure fun to keep people guessing about who you really are by mixing things up in the clothing department.
But I don’t have an unlimited budget and I’m not a size 6.
So sometimes I create an imaginary outfit.
The joy of putting the pieces together–without having to consider whether it will fit or be flattering on my body or be too expensive–is priceless.
My “go to” imaginary shopping destination?
The outfit below is absolutely fabulous, don’t you think?
If I were to go out and buy it, it would cost…$1121.99.
Instead, I’ll just close my eyes and picture myself sashaying around in it, maybe wearing it to Crema for Wednesday’s Co-Working session.
