I went searching for a quotation on strategy this morning, and was surprised that this one–technically about surfing–gave me the strongest tug. Have you ever thought of surfing as strategy? “Moi non plus,” as the French would say, but of course now that I have been shown the way, it is so obvious.
Do you know how to be a watcher of the ocean? How to spot the waves where they are breaking? How to adjust your direction and timing based on the conditions you can’t control and couldn’t anticipate?
Get Brilliantly Clear Strategy Sessions are the foundation of my business. Whether your oncoming wave is in the realm of personal challenges or professional issues–tackling a new goal, navigating a transition, getting back on track with your dream, strategizing a brand, focusing your marketing efforts–we can surf it together. More details on Strategy Sessions are available here.
In June I’ll be offering a SUPER SPECIAL on strategy sessions to mark the one-year anniversary of so many of you getting brilliantly clear in 2012. But the discount will only be available to people who are on my e-mail list.
Sign up here before June 1st to receive the details as soon as they’re available!
You should be able to download the image about surfing at a high enough resolution to place on your desktop or print out…wherever you need it for inspiration. Thanks in advance for sharing it on Pinterest as well.
p.s. Not local to Minnesota? No worries, strategy sessions can take place via phone and Skype too.
One of the reasons I chose this gorgeous blue paint color and bought the beautiful birds and branches decal to go on the office wall behind my desk (see photo below) is so that when I am working with clients via Skype their view is as lovely as possible.
Even in the winter we can pretend it’s a sprightly spring day, can’t we? After all, when we are working together on making your dreams and goals a reality, it’s bound to be a sunshine-y experience.
So here it is–the Skype strategy session discount I’m offering from now until the end of the year–so that schedules and distance, perhaps even some sleet and snow, don’t prevent you from getting the support and advice you need.
I can help you with navigating a transition, tackling a new goal, getting back on track with your dream, strategizing and creating a brand, planning an event, focusing your marketing and social media efforts, designing a website you can maintain yourself and much more. I’ll even take the notes!
Hope to “see” you in my office one day soon, friend.
I’m off to present at Magic Wand Collective co-working today and I am wearing some of my favorite pieces of clothing, purchased recently for my new web site photo shoot. (New site coming soon; in the meantime: Rachel Greenhouse Consulting Services on Facebook.)
I spent hours and hours pinning and online shopping to find just the right clothes for the shoot. I wholeheartedly enjoy an art direction project and a theme…and I love styling myself in a way that amplifies my brand. So, this was not a burden for me. Nevertheless, it is always more time-consuming than it looks.
A few of the items I really really wanted to wear (in particular: a navy peplum jacket and ink lace trimmed shift dress from Dorothy Perkins) simply did not arrive in time. They got caught in customs coming from the UK. I reminded myself to “let it go” and make the best of this opportunity, even if I didn’t have my ideal combination of outfits.
Here are a few of the photos from the shoot, with some shout outs to the clothing manufacturers and other talented individuals who made me look so presentable.
All photos are courtesy the very talented Noemi Hedrick of Noemi Photography.
What are you wearing today? Why don’t you meander over to the Pleated Poppy to take a look at what other bloggers are posting about fashion? Thanks for stopping by!

This startling and inspiring question resonates with me to the very core: “What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?” – Mary Oliver
And here’s my version: Are you making a living or are you creating a life?
Think of your life as a gallery. I’d love to support you in your most important role, that of chief curator of your one wild and precious life! I have a wide range of expertise to draw upon as we place your life and or business goals within that vision.
I specialize in helping small business owners, non-profit founders, entrepreneurs, and creative souls connect the vision they have for their lives with their business strategies. I’m also passionate about helping women to navigate the many transitions they face in life, supporting them as they seek out more joy, purpose and passion in life and work.
I believe that understanding who you are and what you truly want to achieve will result in more authentic marketing efforts, more powerful business planning, and a life fueled by clarity and intention.
We’ll quickly get to the heart of who you are and the unique gifts you have to offer the world. Then, I can support you through branding, strategy sessions, marketing pieces, communications, social media, graphic design, writing, encouragement, coaching and much more. I can provide consultations in person, over the phone and on Skype.
I’ve created a new page for my business on Facebook, and I’m offering a special deal on a one-hour consultation for fans of my Facebook page. Take a look here and contact me if you want to set something up.

Curate your life, friends! Don’t you think it’s a great day to stop just making a living and to start creating your life?
I seem to have no time for blogging these days.
I’ve been moving into my new workspace, ramping up my business, organizing my client work differently, preparing my tax information–all of last weekend!–and getting the Magic Wand Collective to its next stage of growth. All of this is demanding a lot from me right now.
I spend all day, every day, saying to myself: Focus, Rachel. FOCUS!
So thank you for bearing with me for a few weeks.
AN INVITATION: Please consider yourself invited to my Open House.
You’ll get to see first-hand what all of my fussing is about. And, you’ll meet some great people and enjoy delicious food and drink.

A map that might help you to find me…
As many of you know, I’ve just moved into my first ever office outside the home since I started my marketing consulting business eight years ago.
The timing was just right, the stars aligned, and I felt clearly that I was supposed to do this. Bonus: It’s only 8 blocks from our house.
I moved in less than two weeks after signing the lease. Everything–from finding the $148 cabinet in exactly the right shade of red, to choosing a paint color called “Refreshing Pool,” to locating a footstool/ storage ottoman in dark sea foam green–was both intentional and intended to be.
Here are a few photos of my charming little business home.
You can learn more about where my inspiration and ideas came from by following my office board on Pinterest.*
There are a few finishing touches I haven’t yet gotten to–my own blog designs as canvases for the walls are ordered and on the way, a large art-deco style mirror needs to be put up (it’s going to reflect the light from the very high window toward my desk: Kristine’s brilliant idea!) and a framed magnetic chalkboard wall (where I will have my goals and deadlines and tasks laid out visually) needs to be drawn and painted. A clock for the wall, decoupaged clipboards for function and beauty, and just the right tea cozy will be added. All of this will happen very soon and I’m excited for my vision to be completely realized.
From the photos you can’t you see the 10 foot high ceilings and the vintage-inspired tiled ceiling. But I hope the pics communicate to you just some of what I feel when I walk into my little “room of her own” every morning.
Cheerful. Focused. Energized. Clear.
And so grateful.
I plan to have an open house sometime soon. If you’re in the Twin Cities area, you’ll be invited and I certainly hope you will bring your positive and powerful self to the space!
Now I’m ready to move forward with my big priorities for 2012: Growing to meet the needs of my expanding client base, getting organized around the nuts and bolts of managing my business (including hiring some help!) and rebranding to better articulate what I have learned about my particular strengths and passions during the last few years. I’ll also be creating a new web site that incorporates this blog.
I hope you’ll come along on this journey with me.
My new business address:

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.
To get started, request an invite from me. I’ll be happy to introduce you to the joy of Pinterest!
